159 - The Vanishing Hitchhiker of Black Horse Lake

Stop me if you heard this one before…guy picks up young lady walking down a dark road. She needs a ride. She gets in, is awfully quiet, and asks to be dropped off at a cemetery. She gets out, and vanishes. Looking in the backseat, the driver sees she left her scarf. Tracking down where he thought she lived? Turns out she has been dead for 10 years. This is a common trope in ghost stories known as the vanishing hitchhiker. Being in Chicagoland, the story around us is Resurrection Mary on the South Side. This story comes to us from Black Horse Lake in Montana. According to hwy.com, “Black Horse Lake is just a few miles north of Great Falls in Cascade County in north-central Montana. This is a major crossroads where several highways come together, including Interstate 15 and U.S. Highway 87.” So this remote area is also seeming to be pretty popular during driving. Hwy.com goes on to say, “The various accounts almost always describe the hitchhiker of Black Horse Lake as a Native American man with long, black hair. He wears either a denim jacket or overalls and stands on the side of the state highway, signaling for a ride. However, just as the driver passes, the hitchhiker suddenly lurches in front of the car.” So, this is one spooky story you won’t want to miss. Joining us this week is Steve Michaels, pro wrestling superstar and paranormal investigator.
